The 3-inch 23/cal guns have been removed, fore and aft, and the 4-inch/50 cal mount in ‘X’ position has been replaced by a QF 12-pounder HA/LA.

The midships deckhouse has been extended forward with a single .50-inch water-cooled MG installed Port and Starboard.

Unlike the earlier Stage 1 modifications, all but the foremost funnel have been cut down in height as has the searchlight tower. There is now a triple torpedo tube mounting aft, on the centreline.

Note that the DC rails are now parallel and on sponsons built out from the narrow stern. Unusually, there are no Oerlikons mounted at all.

The new Type 271 SW radar with its distinctive lantern is fitted to the bridge and Type 286 AW radar is still fitted with the fixed antenna to the foremast.
